What does UIN Mean?? |
|
UIN(Universal Identification Number) or UIN # is the number ICQ assigns you to identify you in their servers. For example my UIN is 2553208. The easiest way you can find you UIN is to look on the top of your ICQ window. You use this number when looking up a specific person on ICQ. It is much more accurate than search by name or nickname. To find out what UIN a person on your list has is right(or left, depends on your settings) click on the persons name on your list then select to view their "Info", you will see there UIN in the top left coner of the window. Only you have your UIN. Do not loose your password, or you will have to get another UIN and then go find all of your friends all over again. |

How does this Dagorhir Chat On ICQ thing work anyway?? |

Well, hopefully you are familiar with ICQ already. The way a Chat on ICQ works or a chat room for that matter, is much more different than any other chat room or chat out there. In an ICQ chat only those authorized to join by the participants of the chat are allowed in, not 'everyone and their dog' can just jump into the chat like in other chat rooms. "Dagorhir Chat" is just like any other ICQ identity except that it gets listed on ICQ's User's Lists. The way it works is like this only one person is ever "Dagorhir Chat" and that is me. If I am online and there is a chat going on involving Dagorhir between myself and someone else on my offline list (100+ people). I then send out a chat request to all of the people on my off line list, but only to those who are on-line. So please do not hide from me if you want to talk about dagorhir. No one is required to join, I just send a request, if you do not want to chat at that time you may simply send a "decline" to the request and you will not hurt my feelings, promise :o). |

Why should I sign up on the ICQ List? |

Well simply put. It allows other dagorhir members to know your UIN, so that can add you to their icq list. |

Do I have to sign up for the ICQ list to be informed when a chat involving Dagorhir is going on??
What do you mean by On-line and Chat lists?? |
|
No, I have two lists. One is my on-line list, clearly this list is kept on-line and is visible to all people. The other is my Chat(off-line) list and with the exception of those who are also on my on-line list this list is totally private (only I see the names). The latter is the list I use when I am on-line. I try to keep the list free of Spam and other rumors, basicly I have one policy for handling spam and rumors. If it did not come directly from ICQ to me, it is a rumor and nothing else. I will not give out the names of the members of my list unless I feel it is needed, I.e. if you host a web page reguarding Dagorhir, I may give your UIN to another Web site designer so that they can discuss web page design with you. I also try my best to only send information reguarding Dagorhir at a national level or information for Dagorhir Chat to ALL of the members on my Chat list. That does not mean I will not send you a personal message or that I do not want to talk to anyone. I just hate it, when I get messages from 100 different people and it is all the same message or I get rumors upon rumors, I am simply trying to ease the burden from my list members. |

How do I start a chat on Dagorhir Chat?? |

Well, send me a chat request and let me know you want to talk to more people then just me and I will send out the chat request to my Chat list. Then we will just see who shows up. |

I have AOL Instant Messanger... will that do?? |
|
Not exactly, Although AOL just aquired all of Mirabilis Ltd.(ICQ Inc. now) assets. They are not compatable, yet. In reality they are a big step from being equal. But in the future we may see them working together. But for now you will need the ICQ program.

JK, I am Lord Raban (Shadow) of the Highlands of Chaos (Idaho). If you are trying to get ahold of me on my other UIN (#169210), HAhahahahahahahaha... *sigh* good luck, I check it about once a... well when ever I remember. I must appologize I am not on-line as much as I used to be, with my new job, working at a medival living history farm(Somerville Manor). I do not have the time to spend on-line as much as I used to. |
